The problem with guns is a mis-translation of the commandment Thou Shall Not Murder. (We keep hearing "Thou Shall Not Kill" but killing someone who is trying to kill you is SELF DEFENSE not murder and it applies 100% in this case).
The result is many folks will hesitate before pulling the trigger and .. He who hesitates is lost (I'm really into sayings this post).
My recommendation is you do too things
ONE: listen to Mac the Fire Guy.. he puts on a good show. Bit firey but he is teh FIRE guy.
