We spent the better part of several years looking into purchasing a unit, we looked at the pickup camper, pull trailer, 5th wheel, B class, C class, and the A class from the low end to the very expensive units in all the classes.
Some units looked like they where banged together instead of being assembled, both low and high end, the other feature that caught my eye was the complete lack of planning in some units as to function and use.
There was one unit high end, A million plus with a good sized bathroom, and the toilet was relegated to one corner, so close to one wall that when I sat on it I could not sit straight but was crouded by the wall and had to sit crocked, definitlly a bad plan, I tested all the units inspected for shower fit and throne elegance, while the wife tested sleeping arrangements and cooking space.
We setteled on purchasing a "C" class unit that would fit on the concrete pad in the back yard, I also inspected the underside of severall units by crawling under, some dealers would not allow me to do that so they where out, the unit that we purchased is the Coachmen Catalina Sport 22' with a rear kitchen, I will not trade it in for a new unit of shody workmanship, or a high end.
I belive that manufacturers and designers should live and take some of theire units out on the road so that they can see how bad and poorly designed and how they actually work or self disasemble under way.
We are retired full timers for the last seven years and love it and the unit that we have.
My two cents are in
