Update - Summary of manufacturer responses.
I have received 3 replies for the original 9 messages sent out. I won't be publishing responses here. The writers were writing to me and I'm not interested in breaking that subconscious trust they may have in me.
I can't say any of the three were canned. Each held personal emotion or commitment from the writer. There did not seem to be any who acknowledged a "general problem in the industry", but as to what their company was doing to deliver quality products - that seemed to be "believe what I say", and "come on a factory tour". I'm not really sure what else could be said.
I believe all three contained sincerity. One especially was so sincere that it caused me to go back and start evaluating their camper again - which I had removed from my short list for other reasons - just because they had put a sincere humanness onto the product with their reply.
None were testy or indignant, but two weren't sure exactly what I wanted and said so in a way that made it sound a bit like they were not all that happy with my email, but they sucked it up and responded to the best of their ability anyway, and I admired that.
