I may get slammed for this, but here is a comment by an old timer.
We are using our 5th RV that we have owned, bought new each time, since 1961. Even though we have only owned five made by 5 different manufacturers, we selected the models that had the features, including floor plans, that fit our then life styles, the way we used them.
Now about quality. In our observation, with the five units that we have owned, and the one we now own, the quality of each improved with each new unit. Looking back over the years, and the five RV units, it is obvious that technology and materials have improved so that the new units were developed and the manufacturers were able to upgrade their products.
We were very happy with each of our five RV's. However, there is no way that I would consider buying an RV of the materials, design, features, etc., at today's prices, like the ones we bought years ago. When I read or hear that quality today is not up to desired, I suspect that this is a subjective opinion and depends upon what the individual expects.
I appreciate what you are saying very much! I read an article that said it's consumer demand/drive contributes to a lower quality product. Someone says this is the hot new ticket, people rush out to buy it, the factory scrambles to make it and things start to go down hill because they weren't prepared for the onslaught or orders.
We aren't looking for what's popular we are looking for what works within our budget, our truck can tow, will fit us and our Great Dane and is well made ;) So maybe we will get lucky lol!
