Many of us have run into this when volunteering

Right now, I'm into my first week at the Cedar Lake CG in the Ouchita Mountains in Oklahoma. Planning on staying here about three months, and moving on. It would be nice to be able to host in other areas, but sometimes the hosts stay for years. When I came on here, the coordinator said max stay was a year, but I think that's consecutive. The two other hosts have been here for years, but leave part of the year to travel when it's slow.
