Please don't be discouraged from volunteering. It's just a minor issue and doesn't take away from the experience of volunteering in state parks. We love to do this and see great areas of our country while staying at the very best campsites available. When we run into these type host we are polite and listen but go and do what the Ranger has ask us to do ignoring the host directions. These are nice people just bossy. It's just that volunteers that have been there too long need to move on and open it for others to enjoy the experience. I think these position were meant to be temporary.
