Maybe start with full floating verses semi floating axles?
Got it, all I have to do is bolt a full floating axle on and I'm good to "quite safely tow well over my ratings". Good deal.
Well then with a 150/1500 you have farme issues and spring issues, tire issues.
Way too many put ride comfort over safety. That is why we see 150/1500 pushed, "I daily drive and the ride in a HD is too harsh". Well there is a reason for that suspension is designed for carrying rather than riding.
Keep in mind GCVWR is not a legal weight is is based on HP/Torque and gearing.
250/2500 are capped at 10,000# GVWR, many states greatly increase licensing fees for vehicles with a GVWR over 10,000#. Ford has a F350 with a GVWR of 10,000#, but can carry a lot more.
Ford also had a F250 with a semi floating rear axle, steered clear when looking for a 3/4 ton.
