Max Fan will not turn on no humming either

First, the fan should never hum unless your inverter is in real trouble. There is likely a push switch that is controlled by the lid. Lid closed, fan off... Those are also famous for corroding or rusting that will cause exactly what you describe and its a common problem. Short term fix is to go on the roof, grab the plunger and twist to wear off the junk.

I agree - thermostat, and also, probably has a fuse somewhere, or could be a loose supply or ground wire ...

If it's not humming, it's probably not getting power at all.

Is there power at the switch?

Does it have a automatic thermostat to shut it off automatically? It might be to cold to bring on the fan, I had that problem with my Fantastic fans once on a cold day.
