Just got home from ordering some new skins for the rig. I poured over the tire threads and settled on maxxis. Local discount tire could order them up, so I pulled the trigger an hour or so ago...made very clear date codes had better be recentish. During the inevitable, "just curious, why maxxis" discussion the guy(s) said the computer indicated they're soon to be discontinued. That's the first I'd heard that...wondering if it's really just an issue of them not going to be available at discount tire any more. Anyone else heard this?

Interesting...Maxxis makes lots of tires for lots of applications...like ATV tires, etc.Maybe they are discontinuing a tire but maybe not the 8008 ST's.I couldn't find any info about any Maxxis discontinues.I'll give the local Les Schwab a call where I got mine and see what they know??

I recently saw a ad for maxxis tires and they were showing a speed rating of 100 mph. Maybe they are coming out with new styles. JAWAG. If I can find the ad I will post a link.Here. They still show as being 8008 but speed rating is shown as 100 mph unless its a misprint. Very good price though.

There have been "problems" in Thailand. I hope the employees and factory survive. I had good luck with my 8008's...........

I suspected that the numbers weren't right. That's why I noted a possible misprint. Still good prices at that place.

I was in Discount Tire a few weeks back and was told that they were not going to stock Maxxis tires anymore. They could order some, but recommended another brand for replacement. No explanation asked for or offered.
