But I thought people might be interested in seeing this, since Maxxis are supposed to be the best trailer tires out there. I still believe this is probably true, and I suppose I'll replace this one with the same model, but even so, I continue to be shocked at just how often trailer tires fail. If car & truck tires were this bad, the manufacturers would have been sued out of business long ago.
The Maxxis ST may well be the best of the ST tire brands but thats not saying much.
Don't feel bad as your with other RV.net Maxxis owners that I've seen on this websites trailering forums who have reported tire failures.
What so ludicruos is blaming the trailer owner for some how abusing the tires. Now having said that some (not all) trailer owners don't keep up with proper tire care.
Also 3-5 years is the recommended life expectancy of a ST tire. Carlisle who is probably the oldest ST tire maker out there says to replace after 5 years. Maxxis is a new guy in the ST market but still has some catching up to do on proper trailer tire care/recommendations.
You might want to invest in a upgrade to a better tire type such as the two all position tires that lowsuv mentions. I see their popular on other trailering websites (RV/boating/rodeo/construction/etc) for replacing ruined ST tires.
