Three weeks ago a made an appointment to get our 5ver in for some work. When I arrived at their shop this morning they asked me if I had bought the unit from them which we hadn't. I was told that they wouldn't work on our trailer because we hadn't bought it there; the reason being that they were so behind in the service department. The tech told me they started this policy three weeks or a month ago which was about the time I made the appointment. Although this is the last time I do any business with them it's not the first and they have all my contact information. If they chose to turn business away that's their loss and I can live with that.
My grip is that they didn't let me know so I wouldn't made the 60 mile round trip. The work that I scheduled wasn't warranty, although I was going to ask them to do a couple warranty items that came up after I made the appointment.
Not uncommon -
however not letting you know after making an appointment is
*EXTREMELY* inconsiderate!..:(
Should be on the "Dealers to Avoid" list - wherever that is.
Get a "grip" on an independent service facility.
If it was warranty work - contact the (your RV) mfgr to:
Advise them of the situation and see if they will authorize work by an independent.
While you're doing that - mention that lots of owners of the mfgr's product just might be on vacation, 3K miles from home, looking for repairs....and get that kind of treatment from McClains.
Besides bad karma for the dealer - it's really *Bad PR* for the mfgr on LOTS of RV forums!!!..:S
