McMansions On Wheels, Have We Gone To Far
Just curious if others out there like me that think "Have we gone to far as to camping in a RV that cost many thousands of dollars", I sort of think how we use to camp back in the 50's, 60's and 70's,...

Agreed! I liked our 5th wheel, for the roominess it gave us for extended stays; but it didn't always fit into the places where I wanted to "camp" (like a rustic Forest Service campground with my kayaking pals). My little pop-up truck camper solved that problem - I can camp anywhere I can find a flat spot.
IMO, the bigger the RV, the farther you are from being in the "middle of Nature". Some folks LIKE that aspect, others don't. It's why we have such a wide selection to choose from!
