Today's generation is born into the electronic, computerized, SmartPhone, Cable Television with a million stations, and the Internet at their fingertips age. This is all they knew. They never grew up with an outhouse, getting water from a hand pump, and storing food in a root cellar. Their camping style is just an extension of their daily life style. So RV manufacturers have to keep up with the demands of the "electronic generations" or no one would ever buy any RV.
So, it seems like folks own and operate McMansions now, but all they are doing is reflecting their personal life-styles. Today's generation is a spoiled generation. What was our "toys" when we were kids, are now their "necessities" (or so they think). It's only natural the demand for more sophisticated, luxurious, bigger, and more advanced types of RV are pulling into campgrounds these days.
I disagree with this. I see more older generations buying the McRVs than I see today's generation buying them. Most of the younger generations (20-30 years old) I see out camping are pulling up to the campground in their cars with tent gear. They may have a truck with an ATV, PWC, or boat towing behind, but they aren't pulling up in the fancy class As.
40 and up are the ones going for the big class As - and none of them are "today's generation".
I agree and most of us did not grow up with an outhouse a hand pump for water and most never saw a root cellar. What kind of reductionist revisionist history (mythology) is this?
In 1953 fully TWO THIRDS of US homes had complete indoor plumbing. That was nearly 100% by 1960.
I would also add that WE the Baby Boomers invented this technology. YES Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were both born in 1955 well within the boundaries of the baby boom. Mark Zukerberg (founder of Facebook) wasn't born until 1984.
I grew up in Southern California We had nice cars and a pool. Even peeing in the pool was forbidden.
Most of the younger folks I see are camping in cars and old vans or tents.
These huge McMansion Class A's are being bought by the Nouveau Riche. With NO TASTE who dont want to stay at the Ritz Carlton when the attend the Big Game and want to pretend to "Tailgate".
