If it were not for the McMansions there would be no need for KOA & the fancy CGs with 'resort' tagged onto the end of the name.
To separate what is truly needed from the opulence one should look at what is available where fuel is expensive & the maximum size available is much smaller. Take a look at what is sold in Europe or Australia. Totally different mindset in what is needed & availability of places to park a monster.
Being a traveller who never goes for anything less than a 2 month trip, having what is larger than average size than the majority of campers is nice. We have all of the comforts without the opulence. We are big enough to not get in each others way inside yet small enough to get into about any SP or NP.
