glad you had a fantastic time but your first photo is a major reason why we avoid campgrounds on major holidays whenever possible. we spent the long weekend at home dodging rain drops and storms.

On major weekends I always try to use a CG where I can get full hookups. It is worth the extra money to be able to dump, rinse, and fill at my site. If not available I either leave early or late. Leaving around "checkout" time is a nightmare.

Yep X2! always get a FHU site. never had an issue yet.

  • Went there once. We were on the other end of the campground. Water was down in the lake, so there was no swimming. Attnedant sent us to another COE park and said we could swim there. Went there and nope, no swimming. That attendant wanted to know who told us to come there. Think it started a war, or perhaps one was already going on...lol

When we went to dump, we couldn't use the dump on the other side as it was backed up. Had to go over to the side in your picture and dump there. Glad we were there only a weekend, as it would of been a pain to drag a portable waste tote all the way around there.

I think the sites (at least on the side we were on), could use a little updating. The only other COE parks we have stayed at are at Lake Thurmond in the Augusta, Georgia area. It seems that they are kept up a little better there. However, I do like the coded security gate at Bandit's Roost for after hours entry.

  • We usually just suck it up and deal on holiday weekends as our camping time is always limited. The only holiday I WON'T camp is 4th of July. We are still RV-less but this past MDW was the BEST in memory. Nephew's gf had an emergency C-section last Thursday and on Sunday I got to hold the little guy for an HOUR when we visited her at the hospital. Despite the fact mom had serious toxemia, she and baby are fine. That's one of the few things that beats camping hands down!
  • I couldn't help but notice the skillet pic right after the snake pic. Is that BBQ snake?

Looks like a great time, but I'm in the same mind set as rk911 and avoid the holiday weekends. Just the traffic trying to get back in town on an average Sunday is a bummer, so I typically leave on a weekday and come back on a weekday.

I'm leaving this coming Monday for about a week of camping and motorcycle riding. Everyone travel safe.
  • We went with our DD, DS and DIL and grands to a state park with no hook-ups except elec. It was DS's maiden voyage in their new TT. They replaced the damaged one from wind vs awning with a new one. We packed everything up Sunday night and only had a few things in the morning to finish up and we were on our way early. The dumping station was empty so we had time to flush it all out properly. As they say, "the early bird gets the worm", or in this case to dump first.
  • We had our first outing in our new TT , but made sure we had full hook up for just that reason lol. My daughter and son inlaw did not get full hook up and were over 2hrs behind us coming home.

After camping for over 40ys you learn these things quickly lol. We had rain up here in NH most of the weekend, but managed to still have a great time !
