- Ramp_DiggerExplorerAre we the only ones going to a Memorial Day service? Our favorite is to drive up to the smokemont campground just north of Cherokee NC in the Great Smoky Mt Nat Park for the weekend. On Memorial Day we attend the Services in Cherokee. Many people do not realize how many Native Americans have sacrificed all in defense of our country.Everyone have a safe holiday.
- joe_pumaExplorerWe will be going to Lake-Le-Aqua-Na state park in Lena IL. We usually don't go Memorial day weekend but having a new fiver want to get out and use it a lot this 1st year to try to work out the bugs. This campground is usually not full even on holiday weekends. Nice roomy sites.
- travelnutzExplorer IIDW and I went into Grand Haven State Park CG (on Lake Michigan) close to our home tonight to meet with some RV friends who are there and we strolled around the CG. The entire CG is packed full and it's not even Memorial weekend yet and kids are still in school. Not one site open! Talked to a ranger driving by and he said the CG had filled up totally on Wednesday. He said there were only a handful of open sites dates even left for the entire summer. All 174 sites are reserveable and if you snoozed, you losed!
It's always packed full by Memorial weekend and all summer long as kids are finally out of school and full most all of September too but mainly with retirees during the week and families on weekends. Seems like an early start this year! - travelnutzExplorer IIDuplicate post - deleted

This thread is just asking where you might be camping.
We are coming home on Sunday night. Our town has a parade and then multiple services on Monday... At town hall, at the large cemetery, and then to the water (Long Island Sound) to put ceremonial wreaths in.
So we will be "away" for the weekend, but won't miss the Memorial Day service in our town. - JackfateExplorer

BarneyS,
Sounds like you are near West River Rd area. We'd camped, trail motor biked, snowmobiled, canoed, and even horse backed the area several times around the Brown Bridge Dam, Scheck's Place, Forks, and Ranch Rudolf area and got to know it quite well. Very nice large forested fun area. Of course, that was when we were younger and the joints worked better! Fond memories...
Yep, we are right in that area just off Supply road. Paradise!:)

Cheers - Steve_B_ExplorerHome for me as well. Too busy on holiday weekends, quiet at home and I can entertain friends. I have two trips planned, one before the kids get out of school, one for after they go back. Retired elementary school teacher, so I avoid the busy times. Not that I don't love kids...
- garmpExplorer IIAvoiding the masses and staying at home with our new RecTec Pellet smoker, a couple of 1-1/2" thick pork chops brined in curing salt, molasses, brown sugar & herbs with a Yeti full of adult beverages while plotting our route to hit the hard cruel road in a couple of weeks.
Gotta love it! - derosacampExplorerSitting on Tybee Island, Georgia this week. Will head home to Connecticut Memorial Day weekend.
