Getting rodents out of the whatever it is, is only part of the solution. When you are sure you got them all out; it's time to go thru and open up every area you can and even some it looks like you can't.
They go thru all the cabinets, closed areas, etc, carrying in all sorts of garbage from popsicle sticks to gum wrappers including grass clippings ,twigs, shredded paper and they even shred the heating ducting leaving only the supporting wire. All this stuff is stuffed in every nook and cranny for their nests. By the way they even strip the insulation off of the wiring. (Makes for a great 12 volt fire.) The damage can be endless and quite catastrophic. On motor homes they will even move into the air cleaners and build nests on top of the engine and strip the wire insulation. I have seen 1 case where they gnawed thru the plastic water piping. Checking the gas appliances both on the air intake sides and on the exhaust sides is very important. You don't need trash restrictions in these areas.
