Washington parks are much as you describe. You and I seems to share a similar conception of what is of value in camping. Others have their own ideas. And no knock on them, they just see the world differently
This will probably raise some eyebrows, But if I were to put a value (TO ME ONLY), on a per night stay in some of our parks, I would say, it would be north of $100
Considering the cost and hassel of buying your own place or renting a Cabin etc.
I am forever gratefull to have the opportunity to enjoy our state parks, And to do so at a fee which is in my opinion is basically free.
When I think, of the things, I and the DW did as kids, the fun my own kids had, and now the grand daughter. Priceless. And such a bargin. I have seldom if ever spent my money better
