As a group I don't see veterans separating themselves from those who did not serve. Most veterans I have known don't advertise their service, quite the opposite. This thread asked that we document our service, which was a privilege and no small measure of sacrifice, that most of us are justifiably proud of.
One of the best definitions of a veterans is...
"A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life wrote a blank check made payable to The United States of America for an amount of up to and including my life."

He was a flight engineer on board a Boeing B17 from the 8th Air Force.
