His laptop and cell phone where left in the van which was taken away after the accident.
EMT's took care of him and brought him to the hospital.
I'm guessing since it was not a crime there would be no reason for the police,fire and/or emt's to search his car for anything other than to extricate him, stabilize and transport.
Makes you wonder just what responsibility it is of the hospital to locate a family member? There would have to be a specific hospital employee hired for just that reason. You couldn't have Dr's and nurses doing investigative work.
So if you are unconscious I guess you're pretty much left on your own until someone reports you missing? An ICE card in his wallet would have helped him.
