How many of you full timers/snowbirds call your family on a regular basis to let them you all are ok?
That's a very good point. I call mine every 3 days or so, but sometimes I might go as long as a week if busy. I do tell people when I am going somewhere where my phone might not work, where going, who with, estimated length of time, etc. Basic backcountry practices.
I would have assumed emergency services would do a quick check for wallet/phone before leaving the scene, but clearly that is not a thing.
Maybe we should wear dog tags, like soldiers do. (Or are they microchips now?)
Another big issue is, how many people's phone numbers do we know by heart these days? I only know the ones that have not changed since the introduction of cell phones. How you gonna call people if you do not have your phone with the numbers in it? I use android, so my numbers are accessible online... if I can get web access.
