- dan-nickieExplorerI have tried misting systems at home for years.
We use the misters that are attached to the front of a fan for camping. - MerrykaliaExplorer III purchased one last year for the DH for Father's Day last year. I got it from Walmart, paid about $50 for it. We took it to Hunting Island, SC, which is one of the buggiest and humid places we have ever been, but we love it.
It worked great.
It is a pressure sprayer with hose and the hose has several small pinprick holes in it. Fill with water, pump up the sprayer and you have mist for several hours. It DOES work, even when it's humid and it does keep down the number of pests that fly around. If for nothing else, it worked on the skeeters, which HI is known for. - sch911ExplorerAs stated unless you live in AZ, NV, or Southern CA it won't do any good. Evaporative coolers only work in low humidity situations.
- pitchExplorer IIWon't work in high humidity. Misters work by evaporation, on the east coast you are just going to get clammy
- GENECOPExplorer IINeighbor, my only Experience with them is from Las Vegas, walking along the strip in 100 Deg and suddenly getting misted was pretty nice, I think it would be a pretty easy system to build....
