Why were they still there? Did they not get the word that a Hurricane was coming? Drive an hour or so north and they'd be out of danger. Hard to feel sorry for them.

Yes, the media often gets things wrong when reporting on things outside their sphere of knowledge. I was driven near crazy on the first day of Harvey coverage when several national cable news anchors referred to "Port Arkansas" Texas. No such place. It is Port Aransas. Here, they could not even read the word properly off a map.

They used to love that song more than American Pie. Even for that period she had more class than anybody in any of the 3 newsrooms in that market. She went on to be a producer and now is Corporate VP from communications in a Forbes top 250 corporation. The best thing with her position then was that I would help her with her police beat stuff and help her understand the ins and outs of police work.

The 93 year old was a hypothetical example of the people that some are saying need a "slap up beside the head" because they are wasting our precious tax money being rescued. At this time, there are less than one percent of the Houstonians in shelters. That is not costing us much.

The sanctimonious folks who want to blame the people of Houston for having problems should look up "Record rainfall for the Continental United States" for an explanation. If we are around for five hundred years, it "Might" happen again. Nobody has reported where the three million evacuees were going to find comfort. The affluent folks like us are mostly doing fine. I am.
