I gotta ask - why not just leave the door open?
Desiccant does work. At the telephone company we bought the bags in sealed gallon cans. The techs would put in it equipment in high moisture areas. Depending on the amount of moisture, they changed the bags from monthly to yearly.
Be sure you keep any unused bags in a tightly sealed bag or they'll pick up moisture before you ever use them.
