Why not just leave the door open is a good question. I guess to be honest, I am just curious. I am getting these because they are useful for a lot of reasons (I think we have all heard the wet cell phone in rice trick, well these are better than rice for that).
So, just curious, finding new ways, wasting my time....
For one thing, at least I can see that keeping the door close would keep critters from getting in if they ever got into your camper (my wife would never use it again if a mouse got in there).
