More privacy with bathroom window

A screen door on the bathroom along with the door with the window in it??

Here's a suggestion you might try. It's cheap, works well, and if you don't like it, can get rid of it instantly. First, our story:

When we go in the camper at night, we like leaving the outside door open and the screen door shut. This works quite well, except at night, anyone can see inside. In order to provide privacy, and still have the screen shut and the outside door open, I came up with an idea.

My first 2 campers, I did his with the awning puller. My 3rd camper has an electric awning, so I don't have an awning puller now. But I used a simple dow rod with an eye in the end.

You simply put a couple open tea cup hoods (or if you want, use 3m Command Hoods) and place either the awning puller or a dow rod across the door. Then hang a curtain, a towel, or anything you want. In your case, just across he window.

Here's how we did ours. My mother sewed up a pillow case for us so the rod would go through like hanging a curtain on a rod. We wanted the top of the door open and the bottom open (our heads and our feet), but wanted the middle covered (private) ... in case we were walking across the door with ... well ... very little on! :o

So I measured the distance, she sewed it to length, and when we want the ventelation, we do this: (You could adapt the length for your window):

I keeps the dow rod here all the time. When we had an awning puller, I kept right inside the door too. This was the place for it. Just put up a simple tea-cup hook or a Command hook:





With the curtain hanging. Remember, this was just a pillow case we open up at the seam:

I kind of have your problem but in an apartment. Obscure glass is mandated by municipal law BUT when the light shines just right you could be a silhouette in the shower. Noticed that traveling on a city bus one day and decided that I needed to "fix" the problem even though I live on a higher floor. My personal solutions dinna have a screen door to monkey around with yet if it did I'd look towards a ceiling mount window shade. Just be sure that the shade's box (if it has one) will clear the doors' upper threshold. Off the top of my head I think a roller or modified balloon fabric shade would give you ease of use, clean-ability and clearance.

We have the same thing, the glass is frosted. Love it as we sit around the fire, it is easy to run into the bathroom. Also great when dumping the tanks as it is easy to go back and forth. As for the window, at first I was concerned and though of getting something that would fit inside the frame but then I thought, all anyone can see is shadows and it is no different than being in the bathroom at home with the shade pulled at night.

If you're really concerned, then the simplest solution is to install a scare light outside that door. Illumination on the outside of the window will diminish the ability to see thru to the inside....D

Forget the scare light idea, and attach something to the window - even foil with double-sided scotch tape, then run a "test viewing"..;)

I would have a piece of vinyl cut to size, add four snaps and snap on the vinyl cover when needed. It won't interfere with the screen door.

If you are crafty there is glass paint that you can use to make it look like a stained glass window. When you are tired of it you can just score the edges and peel it off. I did this to the top panel of a large window in my house and it looks pretty. Its called Gallery Glass Window Color.

People outside your RV don't know that is a bathroom. Since they can't see details through the non-clear glass, I would not worry about it.

As a side:

A friend was travelling in Europe. Found a public bathroom that was built with mirrors for walls. She thought. Went in to use it. Discovered that those were one way mirrors. People could not see in, but for her they were as clear as windows. She could definitely see out! She said it was very unnerving.

Anyone looking at your trailer at night already knows what you're most likely doing in your bathroom....:S. You said the window is NOT CLEAR. Obviously, they don't have a CLEAR view of you doing your business. Either leave the light off or don't worry about it. Personally, I don't want to see what you're doing in there....:W....Dennis

When I saw one at the RV show I wasn't crazy about the idea,I can see how an outside bathroom door would be handy at the beach.

Since RV designers never go camping, I can see why the glass is clear.
