More tire questons

Have an Artic Fox 24-5N and I have been spending quite a bit of time on very bumpy dirt roads to find the perfect camping spot. Will the stock goodyear Marathon tires hold up to the abuse? Do you guys put M+S tires on your trailers? We may be going over mountain passes in the shoulder seasons, and is a M+S tire necessary or are there other good tires that are less aggressive that will hold up to rough and rocky dirt roads?

  • Let google become your friend. Hiway tread tires are always your best choice for trailer use.
  • Can you give an example of on online retailer that offers that combo? also do you guys run M+S or just HD street tires on the trailer?
  • There are several online retailers that have decent prices on tire/wheel packages. You need to know what axle and stud configuration, and current tire diameter. 15 inch wheels your really limited, and boo on Northwood for that mistake. While 16 inch wheels will not increase your trailers GVWR, it will open the door to a much better selection of tires now and in the future.
  • 15's right now. What type of wheel would I be looking for? Just a 16"
    "trailer" wheel?

And do you guys run mud and snow tires on your trailers? Or just carry chains?

What size tires do you have now?
  • Anu decent LT tire from a well know brand will hold up extremely well. 16 inch wheels? Because the tire choices in 16 inch is way better than 15 inch LT tire sizes.
  • Any recommendations on the LT tire? Do you guys use M+S or is there a good street tire that will hold up well on rocky dirt roads? Why 16" wheels?
  • Sadly, ST tires will not hold up very well. Change to 16 inch wheels if you dont already have them and install a decent LT tire.
