"While not an accurate observation of East/West campground quality, it is a fair assessment on how Western and Eastern residents perceive their own campground use. Eastern residents of the Rockies tend to use a campground as a destination, while Western residents view them as just transient locations. The main reason for this is the vast amount of BLM, Forest Service, and other National lands in the West that offer dispersed camping. I only use a campground as a last resort, overnight parking space, en-route to a real camping experience where my nearest camping neighbor will be as least 1 mile away. When I pull into a space for overnight, I expect the all of the complaints listed in this thread. I will put up with it all without complaint because I'll be moving on in a matter of hours, and I be sleeping with both AC running, and with earplugs, to drown out all the noise expected from a crowded human environment."
Actually I disagree with this assessment. I think the difference in the East and the rest of the country is that they expect more for their money.
