We bought a used pop up earlier this year from people that were from Massachusetts. The pop up reaked of mothballs. We popped it up, removed the fabrics that we could and washed them, but the smell was still in them. We left it poppep up and open for several days. Cleaned the inside with cleaning products and fabreezed what we could. The smell was still there a little. Not sure if I was just getting used to it. We never used the pop up and traded it in, thank god.
I'm noticing that most everyon on this thread that mentions using mothballs are from up north. I guess that is a common thing? Only people I know of or have heard of using mothballs down south were older people.
