I have a chance to buy Roadmaster Falcon 5250 tow bar and rock shield and see on the Roadmaster web site the Falcon 5250 is discontinued. My question is can I still buy the specific fit hitch for the vehicle I want to tow?
Moved to Dinghy Towing forum from Towing.
For Roadmaster tow bars, what you fit to the vehicle are separate towing brackets, which are universal across Roadmaster towbars. If the towbar needs a baseplate, it will come with a spreader bar that provides the lateral stability that converts their brackets functionally into a baseplate. For some towbars there will be an accessory for that function or it will be a permanent part of the towbar.
Lately, for some detachable or "hidden" bracket models, a baseplate piece is also included, because that's the only way Roadmaster could find to mount the brackets. However, you still usually use the spreader bar that comes with the tow bar, as if the brackets were not connected to each other.
As for whether towing brackets are available for the vehicle you want to tow, you'll have to check that specifically, but it will have nothing to do with whether or not they still sell the Falcon. Chances are, if Roadmaster ever made towing bracket for your car, they are still available, as new manufacture or somewhere in the supply chain.
