Move to diesel engines across the RV spectrum a fad?

I think they are here to stay. Even though diesel is (at least currently) significantly higher priced than gasoline, the quieter and more efficient newer diesels are more appealing than their noisy old predecessors. Noise was the greatest drawback of the old ones.
I still remember hearing those noisy old diesel Mercedes and wondering why anyone would want one.
