Moving from Class A to TT ???

We've been RVing for about 12 years now, started with a Class C's then moved "up" to a Class A 36', and currently have a Class A 31'.

A month after acquiring the 31' Class A my elderly mother had to move in with us due to health reasons. Needless to say, we are not using it as often as we'd like. And this is the first RV we have ever financed, so making a payment on something we're not using much is a drag.

We are thinking about "downsizing" to a TT - not necessarily for something smaller but for something that would cost less and possibly have lower maintenance costs.

Anyone here ever gone from a Class A to a TT?

    Yep! My son went from A 38ft Safari Zanzibar diesel pusher, to a 36ft. Dolphin gas motorhome to a 32 foot Outback travel trailer, to a 40ft. Cedar Creek Cottage park model trailer. He likes the trailers much better because he enjoys his truck and the handling is better with the truck/Hensley hitch/ trailer combo than any of his motorhomes were. He also had several class C motorhomes which he enjoyed. The worst handling rig was his Safari pusher.

    No, but what kind of TT are you thinking of? What are you gonna tow it with? What do you want to tow it with?

    My goal in life is to get to a Class A at some point, but probably not gonna happen in my life time... :)

    Only because the longer I wait, the more expensive they get and the less money I have! ha, ha!

    The handling is one of our concerns, we figured a trailer would not be as easy a drive, but good to hear that's not necessarily the case.

    We really love the open feeling/windows of the Airstream, plus they don't feel cheap. We already have a Ram 1500 with the 20" wheel/tow package, so ideally it would be something that it could pull. A new truck is defeating my goal :-)

    Well, you have a start and there are a lot of Airstream trailers that can be towed by a 1/2 ton truck so you have your starting point..

    Just do your due diligence on everything and enjoy!

    I went from a 36 Class A to a 34 ft TT. My main reason I went to a TT was because every time I went outside I would see that Class A sitting there and all that money I paid for it , and it was worth less every day. we seldom used it as my DW had plans seemed like every weekend. This was before I retired in 2000. Bought a 34 ft Holiday Rambler for $14,500 plus 3 or 4 other TTs since then. But there is nothing I like better than a DP MH but the DW still has plans most of the time as she is a Whole Sales Dealer

    I bought a TT fortunately I kept the MH. After trying the TT at least 6 times or more we went back to MH. Very very glad I kept MH.

    I kind of agree with the above post. While I have never owned a motorized RV.
    A class A is way more convenient than a TT. Just get in an go.
    It's easier to park,easier to drive, easier to use.
    Assuming you find a floorplan you like, The only advantage the TT really has is price...and I'm a towable type of guy!
    That doesn't mean you can't or should not make the change, it does mean a TT will never be quite as convenient or easy to use as a class A.
