Update on my original post. I picked up the correct Maxxis tires from the tire store. It was a bit of a drive but oh well. The manager was extremely apologetic and when we discussed our conversations about ordering the tires, somehow the Maxxis name was overlooked.
He had charged me the reduced price for the wrong tires and would not accept any additional payment for the more expensive Maxxis tires.
It was an unfortunate miscommunication in the beginning but he more than made up for it in the end.
