Yes the service was poor and the person you spoke with was rude. It also sounds like you got very very worked up about something that didn't amount to a hill of beans. You could have just drained the tank and dealt with it in the amount of time you spent fussing about it and getting upset.

You should also educate yourself a little more about how the components work so you don't have to depend on the dealer for everything.
