In the true sense of the word, I never retired, but I did quit working at 52. And since I've never hunted for another job since then, I consider myself retired. Since I was salaried, my company didn't have any qualms about calling me at half past horse manure at night to fix some computer problem for them, and I didn't have any qualms about quiting when I could afford it. I've never known anybody lying on their death bed that said they wished they spent more time at the office.
