My wife and I grew up in familes without RVs. We did enjoy tent camping. However, on my wife's side, she had a set of Aunt/Uncle with three boys who camped in an Airstream since the boys were very young.
Later on, after we got married and graduated from college, we got our first RV. The Aunt/Uncle still had their Airstream, my wife's parents got a TT, and her other aunt got a motorhome.
However, those three boys (all about our age)never did get into RVing as adults. It is weird to see old 8mm movies and slide shows of them enjoying the family camping in that Airstream.
Unfortunately my wife and I are now the only family members that still RV. We continue to love it, and we wish that her cousins did too.
As for the original question, the only person who has ever thought we are nuts for loving RVing is the wife of one of the boys. But then again, we are nuts about RVing!!
