I switched to Mobil 1 synthetic oil about 2 years ago and I gained 1 mpg across the board, both towing and empty. I wouldn't have believed it, but I've been tracking mileage on/off since making the switch and it's been consistent.
I did this with my second oil change on my new Dodge. I also had a camper shell installed. Both things helped improve my milage. But what did the most is a warranty recall issue from Chrysler on how the chip is programmed. Once this was done by the dealer it improved yet again.
I check my fuel mileage two ways: One; the onboard fuel mileage computer (actually pretty accurate as it turns out); Two; I have the fuel Buddy App on my phone and religiously input the data before ever leaving the pump.
When I fill I do the same thing every time to make sure I am filling to the same point as much as possible.
I have only ever posted what was the actual fuel mileage. Every car and truck, even similarly equipped will have somewhat different mileage. I dont worry about others I just post mine for comparisons sake and to share info.
