I have always put the small stuff underneath and then thrown on the big stuff. Making a campfire for me is fun. I like the challenge. I will definitely give this upside down cake a shot though. I would like to see how it will work with large split firewood on the bottom. I imagine pretty good. Of course my propane torch is always on the ready in case I want to cheat!
