Thanks to all for the encouragement. I'm sure this is just a bump in the road for Mother and sooner or later things are bound to get better.
I just talked with her about 7:30pm. She sounds better, still a little bit looped but making more sense now. She doesn't remember her sister calling. Mother said her doctor came in and told her the knee had "exploded." Not sure what that means. I'm sure it's code for something, but I thought it was irresponsible for him to use a term like that. My mother and I are both old RNs so it's not like we don't understand medical terms.
