National Park Closures due to Shutdown

Could you give the websites officially announcing the closures mentioned rather than generalizing?

Per today 6:51 pm PST...”During the federal government shutdown, Sequoia and Kings Canyon will remain open. There will be no NPS services, and hazardous conditions may exist. Neighbors drove thru Joshua Tree today. No issues.

Which parks are “due to follow?”

Joshua Tree, more than 792,000 acres of national park nestled between Palm Springs to the south and the town of Joshua Tree to the north, will remain open during the shutdown but its popular campgrounds will close at noon Wednesday, according to the National Park Service.

I'm wondering if they should have closed them all. According to the news there is actual damage happening because of John Q. Public taking advantage of free admissions and not being watched. :h

But the question begs for an answer: if people are aware of the shutdown why are they leaving their garbage to pile up? Take it home with you! Do your part to help.

Because people are pigs and feel entitled to leave their garbage for someone else to clean up?

Joshua Tree is not open. The highway that runs through it is open. A couple of years ago we were on our way home from New Mexico and wanted to hit Death Valley and Yosemite. We found out that, because a state highway went through Death Valley they could not shut the highway down. We went and noticed that the campgrounds were all closed but we got to see the valley and that was good enough for us. Yosemite was different. It was completely closed. Opened a couple of days later when we got home.

This is ready a sad reflections on humanity. That we are to be watched to comply with laws and regulations.

Because when rangers are around, we make it a point to take our garbage to the dump no matter the long walk.
