National Park Closures due to Shutdown

We decided to stay home for the winter.

But those of you heading West to California, Yosemite, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Joshua Tree National Parks have announced closures due to pile of uncollected garbage that volunteers cannot anymore cope up and handle.

Other National Parks are due to follow if the shutdown is not resolved.
  • According to cnn.com
Joshua Tree, more than 792,000 acres of national park nestled between Palm Springs to the south and the town of Joshua Tree to the north, will remain open during the shutdown but its popular campgrounds will close at noon Wednesday, according to the National Park Service.
  • Per today 6:51 pm PST...”During the federal government shutdown, Sequoia and Kings Canyon will remain open. There will be no NPS services, and hazardous conditions may exist. Park sites may close at any time if unsafe for visitors. Call 559-565-3341 for current road conditions” See https://www.nps.gov/seki/index.htm
  • Could you give the websites officially announcing the closures mentioned rather than generalizing?
