Need a sticker - Catalyst marked to prevent theft

You all need to investigate how the process works---very few places in the US that actually extract the precious metals as it is very costly and you better have 4 or 500 of them before they will even talk to you about buying them. Thieves get a few bucks then it moves up the chain several steps till it gets to the place that extracts the precious metal. At that level 200 will get you about $100,000 average.

Better idea,,
buy an EV and you dont need to worry about catalytic converters. :B

Exactly. So you won't stop it down at the lower levels because that end level is willing to cut out any of the middle steps that get in the way.

I don't understand the point of engraving. The shops that are buying a half dozen catalytic converters out of the back of someone's car know they are stolen, they aren't going to let an engraved VIN stop them, worst case they'll just grind off the VIN with an angle grinder.

It *might* help get your catalytic converter back to you if police find a stash of them, but by the time you get it back you'll have already replaced it. So you'll get back your used, probably damaged converter, that you have no use for, and if insurance paid for it, it's their converter now.

Since this is about RVs there really aren't any available.

Beat me to it...not hard to cut out a VIN number you etched into it.

Even easier just smear a little mud on it and claim you didn't see it because they don't typically come with a VIN number.

Beat me to it! As a further step, remove the muffler from the DP, and replace with a straight pipe. Better fuel mileage, better performance, and no worries, and you don't have to worry about your DP becoming obsolete by an EV RV cause it ain't gonna happen in my lifetime, and probably not in yours. Of course, if you don't like the improved performance, you can always put a couple hundred pounds of non-aerodynamic solar panels on your roof to supplement the fuel efficient generator that is already on the DP a little bit.

He speaks the truth. The other one is on horse trailers. Both parties need to be careful with their charges, I drive the same regardless.

If marking them works maybe we should put a sticker on everything , lawnmowers , hammers , lunch boxes even money , maybe no body would rob banks if they had a sticker and maybe a serial number on them !
