We towed a 2000 Ford Focus with manual transmission for several years, then bought a new Focus in 2006, again with a manual transmission because the automatic could not be towed 4 down. In 2012 Ford came out with a automatic transmission in the Focus that could be towed 4 down. We bought a 2014 Focus with automatic transmission that can also to towed 4 down. I'm not going to say the 2014 is a hassle to get ready to tow, but there are other cars out there that are much easier to hook up and go with.
