Need help What size should I buy?

I just purchased a 26' Toy Hauler Travel trailer. It says up to 25000lbs but when purchased I was told I could use 1000lb tongue weight & 10000 to 15000 lb weight distribution kit. I am looking at this item on eBay(CURT Trunnion Bar Weight Distribution Trailer Hitch - 1,500 LB Tongue Weight) does anyone know if this a good unit & will it work for my toy hauler?
Thanks
Dee

  • Your numbers don't make any sense. I have a 26' bumper pull TH and it weighs <8,000 lbs light. Loaded, 13,000 lbs. My tongue weight can very from 750 to 1,200 lbs depending on whether I'm loaded up or not.
  • It depends what you're loading in the trailer. You need to know your loaded trailer weight and young weight to figure it out. If you go with a 1500lb setup and your tounge is 750lbs you'll likely get a stiff ride ins maybe bounce.

A make/model would help figure it out. I'd also like to see the 26' bumper pull TH rated for 25000lbs.
  • It would help others answer this question if they can look up the model number, and brand of RV that you are going to be towing.

26' does not give an adequate description!

I have not towed a travel trailer before, so basically I can not help at all. My brother's cargo trailer and WD system worked in my motorhome, but I have no idea what brand or rating it is.
