I learned this by observation. Worked awhile as a flunky at a car dealership. We went to a customer's home to remove the battery from a car he was storing awhile, to bring back to the shop and trickle charge it. Mechanic (!!!) put a box wrench on the positive and gave it a jerk. Hit the body, and turned blue hot. Snatched it off with a mechanic's rag and threw it in a child's play pool.
