- sgrant914ExplorerInteresting in the youtube video, it appears from my no so keen ears that the honda is *NOT* in eco mode but running full bore. Where as the Generac is in it's economy mode. Which I can assume is similar to the eco mode on the honda.
So not a fair demo in my opinion. - Mr_BeeboExplorerThe market for a generator like this is here and similar venues. Folks who use inverter gennies like Yamaha, Honda, Champion buy them specifically because they make clean electricity and are specifically quiet. How quiet? Why, I bet most owners could tell you the decibel rating of their pride and joy. So why, when targeting a group like campers, would generac not boldly lay out in front what the db ratings are for their product? Not a knock, just a very curious question.
- pitchExplorer IIJust sayin, Go to any outdoor power equipment board and check Generac reviews. Not so good!

Anybody see the 23ft db ratings at the 3 operating levels? I looked thru all the literature and could find no claimed DB levels.
i couldn't find any db ratings either, neither on the website or in the brochure.
and which Hondas are they claiming that the Generac is quieter than. none of the documentation says that they were Honda INVERTER generators.
they could be talking about open-frame Hondas.
not saying that the Generac is not quieter than Honda's 2000w one but i'm suspicious of any generator company that doesn't post a db rating anywhere.
this is the only thing i could find:
*Based on independent lab tests using ISO 9614 to measure sound power levels vs. Honda EU2000i.
you'd think they would post the db rating if it truly was quieter than the Honda 2000.:h - gboppExplorer

Interesting. I wonder how reliable the IQ will be?
Also, I don't mean to be negative but, I would have been more impressed if it was an independent test. Not a Generac dealer controlling the situation.
I noticed they didn't show the 'load' being applied to the Generac or the Honda.
Why not place a cube heater or something similar beside the generator being tested?
Maybe it will be competition to the Red & Blue, depending on the price and real world usage. JMO
I like options when buying things.
Thanks for posting.
Just another opinion... If you take a look at some of the other FitRV technical videos you will notice that he is quite analytical in his testing and not afraid to be truthful. Although the manufacturer did have some "control" of the situation, I suspect he would not have posted the video if he was not sure that it was a fair and balanced test. He may have simply left out some of the relevant info about the testing procedure to make the video more interesting.
Thanks, I was just commenting on what I could see and not see in the video. I was not aware of other videos made by the same person.
Hopefully the Generac will be quiet and reliable.
I was not trying to be negative.
Thanks for showing me another opinion. :) - hbillsmithExplorerAnybody see the 23ft db ratings at the 3 operating levels? I looked thru all the literature and could find no claimed DB levels.
- Our_PlaceExplorerGenerac does make some dead reliable generators and I bet this one would be too. However i'm sticking with my Champion 3100 inverter as it is really quiet and I only need one to power my camper.

I saw an add on that thing in trailer life and it claimed to be quieter than the red one. :h - FizzExplorerWe will have to wait and see.
