Gosh Bluepost you may win the award for meticulous calculations. You are obviously very conscientious about safety. I have heard a lot of good things about the Toyotas and their capability. That said, we have a "half-ton towable" fifth wheel with a dry weight of about 7,800 and we use a Ram 3500 megacab diesel dually to pull it. That way I can tow and not "sweat the details" (not that I plan to overload anything.) I do think that a lot of newbies try to make a light duty truck fit their new larger trailer so they don't have to upgrade their truck. (I did it!) They calculate how much they can tow down to the last 25 pounds. They forget, though, that the weight involved has a lot to do with vehicle setup, tire ratings, braking and handling in windy conditions, and it's not all about how big your motor is. You are obviously not in that category, having experience with different types of tow vehicles. Thanks for posting and being so detailed. I need to become as meticulous as you!
