NEW CABLE HOOK UPS AT CAMPGROUNDS

I need help and advice. I have a 2014 travel trailer, only 3 years old. Now I'm finding the campgrounds at least in Virginia have changed there cable to something with Dish that I cannot hook up and get. I have a Sansui Tv, only 3 years old, but apparently doesnt have what it needs to connect to the campground cable and pick up the channels, it always did before the campgrounds updated service. SO, has anyone run into this? I cannot find anyone who can explain what I can do beside buy another tv.

Most major brand flat screen TVs manufactured after 2006 support both ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) and QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) digital tuners. ATSC is used to receive digital channels over the air. QAM is used to receive digital channels from a cabe TV provider without use of a cable box.

"Support" really isn't the right word.

All TVs manufactured after 2006 must have ATSC tuners built in. However, QAM tuners are optional. Many cheap RV TVs don't have QAM tuners.

If you find that this is the problem (no QAM tuner), then get one of these.
  • 4. Make sure you are not hooking up the coax cable to your campers 'Satellite" jack.

    or,
just run the coax from the campground hook-up directly to the back of your television, via a window, and see if it works by-passing the camper completely, and make sure you are scanning the television in "Cable" mode.
  • 1. Make sure your OTA antenna booster is OFF
    2. Make sure you are connecting the cable to the correct input in your RV's utility bin.
    3. When running the channel search on your TV, make sure you select CABLE.
  • Which campgrounds in VA are you having the problem with? The ones we stay at have been fine with our 4-5 year old Vizio and RCA TV's.
  • Did you inquire with the CG Staff if a 'cable box' is required?

    Other info about TV tuners:
Most major brand flat screen TVs manufactured after 2006 support both ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) and QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) digital tuners. ATSC is used to receive digital channels over the air. QAM is used to receive digital channels from a cabe TV provider without use of a cable box.

Does your Sansui support 'QAM' tuner??????
Check Sansui website for your specific TV model....details/data info
