I had the free wi-fi when I bought my Chevy truck in the spring. The wi-fi was pretty cool, the monthly price isn't outrageous, and it worked well for us. But as someone mentioned before, if you have a phone, why do you need the wi-fi? I don't think you need a wireless carrier. The big drawback for me was your vehicle has to be on for the wi-fi to work. I had thought about using it in my camper at night to web surf, but would rather not have the key on in my truck all night.
our phones are verizon, GM Wifi is ATT. VERY nice for us since there are spots where either verizon or ATT doesn't have service, but very few where both don't have service. So.... especially when camping we have a much better chance of having cell and wifi service.
we just get the package with 30 minutes of phone/month and an annual 10GB of data. works out real well with us.
now if you have ATT (or GSM) carrier, no real advantage.
