That was our experience as well, but it depends a lot on where you commonly go.
We do get better coverage with verizon, but there are still enough spots where verizon/CDMA coverage is gone, but ATT/GSM is there that having both is very nice.
And then there are the spots with no coverage when out in the back country where we carry a spot messenger in case we need emergency help or to SMS the kids where we are.
So, the ATT backup with Onstar has been very handy.
But if your commonly around major metropolitan areas, not likely an issue with either carrier.
